MONOCRYL™ Monofilament Suture, Violet, SH, 27", Size 0-0, is a synthetic absorbable suture made from a copolymer of glycolide and e-caprolactone. It is designed to offer high initial tensile strength with a rapid absorption profile, making it suitable for fast-healing tissues. The monofilament structure results in minimal tissue drag, reduced bacterial adherence, and smooth handling during placement.

This suture retains approximately 30–40% of its original tensile strength at two weeks and loses 60–70% within the first week. Complete hydrolytic absorption is achieved within 91 to 119 days. Its degradation causes a minimal inflammatory response, with predictable absorption and wound support, which is critical in procedures requiring secure closure with reduced long-term foreign material presence.

The SH needle is a 1/2 circle taper point needle, ideal for soft tissue penetration without cutting, suitable for buried or subcuticular placements. The violet pigmentation of the suture enhances visibility during surgery, aiding in accurate tissue approximation and precise closure.
